An opportunity to evaluate current levels of attainment and skills, identify strengths and needs and drive forward. Each day begins with confidence and mindset work, the cumulative effect of these short, focused activities build throughout the week. They establish a positive and powerful foundation ready to introduce the academic sessions, the threads of which are weaved throughout all teaching and learning of each day. A ‘can do’ attitude to embrace challenge and create the most progress without limit. The intention is to instil skills to help manage the examination process and beyond. The English classes are focused on Comprehension skills working through the text, question types and structuring answers with precision. Children often struggle with writing skills, and we deliver a method that meets the examiner’s mark scheme. We learn how to plan and use literary devices in descriptive writing. Following the examinations, many students have received feedback from next schools commending their writing. Vocabulary – developing a rich bank of words and using them in context. Punctuation and Grammar. Dictation – attention to handwriting, application of spelling and grammar rules and proofreading for accuracy. Every day ends working metacognitively to audit learning, goals and effort. All material is original and cannot be purchased. Papers will not be repeated in any other course.
