The October half-term is key preparation time, balancing some rest and fun with focused academic and mindset work critical to exam success. All material is bespoke and unavailable outside of the course.We evaluate current levels of attainment and skills, identify strengths and needs and target to return ready for the challenges ahead. This course is excellent to build on previous masterclasses or as an independent week of teaching and learning. Comprehension: An original Fortis Comprehension – understanding the text, focusing on vocabulary, analysing key words in questions and phrasing answers fully and precisely. Exam technique giving appropriate detail according to the marks available and ensuring that all elements are addressed, proofreading skills. Also a multiple choice paper. Writing: Planning narrative writing - how to plan a simple plot that makes sense so that exam time can focus on quality of writing/description. Using our framework to master Descriptive Writing with appropriate literary devices to hit the examiner’s mark scheme. Following the examinations, many students have received letters from next schools commending their writing. Vocabulary and Grammar. All material is original and cannot be purchased.
